Run a game day
What a scorekeeper does before, during and after a game day: check the schedule, mark the day live, score each game, handle a postponement, and close the day.
Updated · In the admin: Game days
A game day is a date at a venue with its games scheduled into it. Owners and admins build the schedule; the scorekeeper runs the day. Everything below happens under Manage › Game days and Manage › Schedule & scores.
The day before
- Open Manage › Game days and check the day's Date, Venue, Doors / first tip and Ends. Edit them if the gym changed its hours.
- Open Schedule & scores, filter by the game day, and check that every game has both teams, a tip-off time and a court.
- If the league streams games, paste the Live stream link on the game day. The public game day shows a Watch button.
- Upload a Printable schedule (PDF) on the game day if the league prints one for the door.
At the gym
- Set the game day's Status to live. The public site marks the day as in progress.
- For each game, open its Score sheet at tip-off and press Start game (live). Enter period scores and player lines as you go, and Save as final when it ends. See the score-a-game guide for the sheet itself.
- If a game is moved to another court or time on the day, edit the game's Court and Tip-off so the public schedule stays right.
Postponements and cancellations
- A game that will be replayed: set its Status to postponed. It stays listed with that label and out of the standings. An admin gives it a new date later.
- A game that will not be played: set its Status to cancelled.
- A whole day lost to weather: set the game day's Status to cancelled. Its games keep their own statuses, so mark them postponed or cancelled as well.
After the last game
- Check Schedule & scores with the Scores owed filter: it lists past games with no final score. Everything from today should be gone from it.
- Set the game day's Status to completed.
- Tell the admin about anything that needs a roster change: a player who played but was not listed, a jersey number that changed.
Standings, player pages and the leaders board are already up to date; nothing needs to be published.
Questions
What can a scorekeeper change?
Game days, games and score sheets. A scorekeeper cannot edit teams, players, pages or payments; ask an admin for roster changes.
A team did not show up. What do I do?
Score the game as a forfeit the way your league's rules say, for example 20 to 0 to the team that showed, with every player left at 0, and save it as final. If the league replays no-shows instead, set the game to postponed.
